The entrepreneurial founders at Lyfe Clinic are on a mission to help Malaysian women feel great about themselves
In partnership with Lyfe Clinic
As with all nations on the rise, women are one of Malaysia’s greatest assets. But being a woman is a balancing act. Along with their many responsibilities, women face a steady stream of advertising and social media feeds that make them second-guess their appearance. Women’s health issues, such as menopause, are kept private.
Longtime friends and doctors, Anjalee and Nishantani understand these challenges all too well. That’s why they co-founded Lyfe Clinic, a supportive space where women can age gracefully with scientifically proven services for the face, skin, hair and body – all without the hard-selling common at other aesthetic clinics. The duo now have expanded to three clinics across KL, and are diversifying into wellness services for men.
Here, they discuss the enduring values that have guided their growth.
What are you trying to achieve with Lyfe Clinic?
Dr Nisha: Lyfe Clinic was established to diagnose, treat and enhance physical beauty – helping you not to erase age, but to age fabulously.
Dr Anjalee: At the same time, we are not just an aesthetic clinic. We are doctors who cover general health tests, hormones, antenatal, mental and emotional health, backed by science.
What sets you apart from other clinics?
Dr Anjalee: Our treatments are FDA- and KKM-approved, and there is no hard selling.
Dr Nisha: We don’t diagnose the face alone; we try to understand the human body as a whole. There can be underlying endocrine issues, autoimmune disorders or other issues that cause skin disorders. This is why we have a general practitioner working alongside our cosmetic dermatologists.
What challenges do your clients face in their lives?
Dr Anjalee: Many patients bring photoshopped photos and say they want to look like that. As doctors, our job is to set realistic expectations and also understand the underlying psychology. Our imperfections make us who we are. We should embrace them and maintain ourselves in a safe manner.
Dr Nisha: Women juggle many roles, and no one has time. That’s why we offer telemedicine services, if need be, and cosmetic procedures that have no downtime. Come in during your lunch hour, and leave with no trace or scar.
What advice do you have for other women entrepreneurs?
Dr Nisha: There’s nothing a good night’s sleep can’t help. Wake up and keep striving. And look after your staff – 95% of our staff have been with us since our inception in 2015.
Dr Anjalee: We wanted a space that was safe and cosy for our patients, staff and ourselves – where we felt satisfied that we did our best. Those values have not changed, even as we have grown.
