Savour unique sushi creations at pop-up sushi bar by Michelin-star chef
Trust Chef Jeff Ramsey – only the guy who helped Mandarin Oriental Tokyo’s Tapas Molecular Bar get its Michelin stars – to serve you some of the best Omakase you can find in town.
Be delighted by Ramsey’s exclusive Omakase creations at the pop-up version of his restaurant Babe, called Sushi Babe. Running only from 17 November until 14 December 2016, the temporary spot sets up camp at the private dining area of The Apartment at Suria KLCC and features an 18-seater Sushi Bar for said Omakase, along with a la carte dishes and set menus in the adjacent Dining Room.
Calling upon his illustrious background as an innovative sushi chef (read: Michelin-starred Tapas Molecular Bar at Mandarin Oriental Tokyo), Chef Ramsey will be preparing and serving 17 items per seating, each inspired by and adhering to traditional sushi methods, yet injecting enough twists and turns to keep it fresh and intriguing.
The freshest of fish dominate the menu, where among the items you might get include the 1000-Year-Old Cedar Smoked Jack Fish, placed in a bamboo steamer with a smouldering piece of wood; Miso Marinated and Grilled Beltfish; crispy-skinned Blackthroat Seaperch; Skin-On Japanese Grunt with Kinome; and Seaweed Roll of Japanese Sardine.
Meanwhile, exotic Japanese delicacies can be seen (and eaten) in dishes such as the Sea Grapes and Junsai (a small type of water lily), Grilled Hokaido Scallop with Uni and Turnip, Blue Angel Prawn with Roasted Head, Sumi Squid with Shiso and Plum, and the Carrot-and-Kawaebi Seaweed with Sweet and Sour Salt – dehydrated strips of carrot crumpled like tumbleweed with prawns in the center and seasoned with tasty salty powder.
