Dine In At Kontiki And Discover Fresh Asian And Continental Cuisine
Located at the Mezzanine Level of The Federal Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Kontiki is a restaurant offering a unique blend of Asian and Continental cuisines with a wide selection of carvery and seafood barbecue delights. Going Places was recently invited for an experiential review of Kontiki's buffet spread, and here's our take on the delightful event.
Ambience
We love the ambience of Kontiki, which features ample lighting and quaint decorations connoting a tribal setting. The ratan canopy love seats add a distinctive element, which creates the feeling of being close to the ocean. Guests can also choose to dine indoors, or outdoors, which is next to the pool's terrace.
The open concept allows guests to experience the chefs' skills at delivering the contents of the spread. Ultimately, Kontiki is a comfortable place to dine in with ample space to move around, especially to and from the spread area.
Buffet Spread
We were very impressed with how fresh the seafood was, which is rather rare in the city. Fans of seafood would find the spread pretty exquisite with live lobsters, salmon, fresh oysters, soft shell crab and crayfish decorating the tabletop on ice and with their multi-coloured combinations. But if you're a meat lover, the wagyu beef steak, peking duck, marinated lamb shoulder and all-time favourite satay would be appealing. The mix of Asian and Continental cuisines make it an all-rounded spread that can cater to many tastebuds and palates.
We were also introduced to the unique concept of Tunku Abdul Rahman's (Malaysia's First Prime Minister) favourite dishes that are available as part of the buffet spread. The dishes are rotated nightly based on the book of his dishes.
Kontiki is open everyday and offers both ala carte and buffet dining options that correspond to different periods of the day and the week itself. To view their ala carte menu and make reservations, visit kontiki.com.my
