Going Places April 2025 (E-Mag) 1
From the editor
Writing my first editor’s note feels a bit surreal, but more than anything, I’m thrilled to go on this journey with you. A magazine isn’t just about putting stories together – it’s about sharing experiences, sparking curiosity and, hopefully, inspiring you to see the world in new ways.
For this issue, we begin in Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala, India, where the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda continues to shape everyday life. From time-honoured healing treatments to a deep-rooted philosophy of balance, Kerala’s approach to holistic wellbeing is a reminder of how closely our health is tied to nature. There’s something profound about this mindful way of living, and we take a closer look at how it continues to guide daily rituals and wellness practices to gain a deeper sense of harmony.
Next, we head closer to home to the pristine beaches of Terengganu and its surrounding islands. Malaysians have long known the beauty of these shores, but now they’re stepping into the spotlight as one of Southeast Asia’s most stunning yet under-the-radar beach destinations. What makes Terengganu truly special is the passion of its conservationists. From dedicated individuals like Professor James Tan of Universiti Malaysia Terengganu to sustainable efforts by resorts like Tanjong Jara, their commitment to protecting marine life ensures that it will be preserved for generations to come.
For those who find inspiration in the arts, Yogyakarta – or Jogja as the locals call it – is the place to be. If you’ve got a weekend to spare, art aficionado Norhizam Kadir has crafted the perfect itinerary, leading you through the city’s cultural gems and the best spots for authentic local flavours.
As we bring you these stories, a common thread emerges – the importance of nourishing different aspects of ourselves. Whether it’s taking time to recharge in nature, discovering new perspectives through art or embracing traditions that remind us to slow down and be present, balance is key, and I hope this issue inspires you to explore what truly feeds your mind, body and soul.
Go forth and wander!
