here’s something about spring that makes you want to move – to explore, get curious and see familiar places in new ways. This issue is all about rediscovery: returning, wandering and letting destinations surprise you again.
Our cover story takes you to Cebu, but not in the way you might expect. It’s told through the eyes of a writer coming back to the island she was born on after years away. Instead of retracing old memories, she dives straight into adventure – canyoneering through rough terrains and waterfalls, swimming with clouds of sardines and drifting over coral gardens teeming with underwater life. Cebu feels raw, alive and deeply personal, the kind of place that reveals itself when you’re willing to get wet and go a little off script.
Hyderabad shows another side of itself. Yes, its palaces and forts hold centuries of history but today, the city hums with new energy. Between heritage landmarks, you’ll find late-night cafés, creative spaces and a growing crowd of young visionaries who are reimagining the city. It’s a city in the middle of becoming, which makes now a particularly good time to visit.
Even Tokyo, one of the world’s most familiar cities, has its quiet surprises. Beneath a 100-year-old railway viaduct lies a hidden stretch of restaurants, bars and shops that feels like a secret passage waiting to be explored.
Beyond that, we escape for a weekend in Kuantan, check out Brisbane’s new Queen’s Wharf precinct and wander lesser-known corners of Shanghai that recharge creativity and invite reflection.
However you travel this season, we hope these stories remind you that discovery doesn’t always mean going far – sometimes it’s about slowing down, returning differently and letting a place show you something new about itself, and about you.
Go forth and wander!
