In Kapten Batik’s latest collection, music becomes pattern, movement becomes motif and tradition takes on a new tempo
Music and batik share a quiet resonance. Both are built by hand, guided by rhythm and carried forward through generations. ORKES, Kapten Batik’s newest collection, weaves together these two art forms, drawing on the character and cadence of musical instruments and translating them into contemporary batik.
Drawing inspiration from both heritage and modern instruments, ORKES translates sound into visual language. Motifs echo the way melodies travel, rise and linger, creating garments that feel considered rather than simply ornamental. Each piece is a reminder that batik, like music, is not static – it evolves with the people who wear it.

Crafted with purpose
ORKES joins Kapten Batik’s signature Masterpiece, Maharaja and Nusantara series, alongside a linen line and the newly introduced Kurung Kedah sets. Available in Modern Fit and Slim Fit, with short-sleeve options, the collection is designed to move easily between moments: from power lunches and birthday celebrations to weekend getaways. These are garments crafted for those who travel with curiosity and dress with intention.
Standout designs include Nusantara Forest Melody, inspired by the seruling (a traditional bamboo flute from Southeast Asia). Its flowing motifs evoke sound drifting through a forest, creating a sense of belonging and calm. Masterpiece Strum and Storm strikes a louder note, reimagining the guitar’s raw energy through fire, shadow and grungy floral forms – an expressive nod to the intensity and passion of rock music.
Sustainability remains central to the brand’s philosophy. Every piece in the ORKES collection is OEKO-TEX® certified, reflecting a commitment to responsible production, health safety and transparency, values that have become increasingly important to conscious consumers who purchase with intention.

Where art comes alive
As part of the campaign’s creative direction, the ORKES collection was showcased through a visual concept uniting live music and traditional craft. A performance by Agal Musik played alongside batik artisans at work, echoing the collection’s core idea: creativity thrives when disciplines intertwine.
In translating music into batik, Kapten Batik offers more than a collection; it offers a way to carry culture forward, one thoughtful piece at a time.
