From video game-inspired F&B outlets to cartoon-themed cafés and restaurants; these are just some of the eateries that will bring that kid out in you.
Sanrio Hello Kitty House Bangkok
Housed at Siam SQ1 in the bustling neighbourhood of Siam Square, it is the place for all Hello Kitty fans. The themed café is divided into three floors, comprising a restaurant, a dining area, a gift shop and nail spa. Decorated from top to bottom in pink, the Hello Kitty theme is carried throughout the outlet including the menu where delectable cakes, pastries and smoothies are served in typical Hello Kitty shapes, colours and designs.
Moomin Café Hong Kong
The characters from Finnish cartoon The Moomins are immensely popular in Asia to the point that they have two themed restaurants in Japan and now Hong Kong. Housed in the vast Ocean Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui, the Moomin Café not only carries with it the theme of the cartoon strip but also offer a variety of dishes and desserts from Finland. The café also houses a gift store and they even offer solo diners the company of dining with a stuffed character, if so they choose.
Capcom Bar
Famously known for its series of popular games such as Street Fighter, Resident Evil and Bio Hazard, the Capcom Bar celebrates its greatest creations complete with décor and themed menu items. Located within the Pasera Resorts in busy Shinjuku, Tokyo, the Capcom Bar stands as a must-visit for video game fans the world over especially due to the cool dishes and drinks that are available at the eatery. Fans of Street Fighter may want to opt for either Guile’s Sommersalt Kick and Edmond Honda’s Tea or the Brain Cake if you’re a Resident Evil fan.
Barbie Café Taiwan
It’s a Barbie world as they say and no one knows that more than the Taiwanese. This is probably the reason why Taipei has a Barbie Café, which is not only draped in Pink from top to bottom but also Barbie-related food and drinks. The café which is licensed by toy giant Mattel also features hot pink sofas, tables shaped like high-heeled shoes and chairs decked out with tutus. If you’re a fan of the world’s most famous doll, then Zhongxiao East Road, Da'an District is where you’ll need to go to the next time you’re in Taipei.
