Winter Art Exhibition merges guests hospitality with Japanese aesthetics of the season
Park Hotel Tokyo has announced a new exhibition titled “KARUTA Exhibition”, which will take place at the property from December 26, 2016, to February 5, 2017, and from February 13 to 26, 2017. The hotel holds four art exhibitions a year to offer guests hospitality with Japanese aesthetics of each season.
For the winter exhibition, artworks on the theme of “karuta (Japanese traditional card game)” will be displayed on shelves and walls in the ART Lounge for guests to enjoy during not only their stay but also dining.
During the KARUTA Exhibition, guests can sample the original dessert and cocktail while viewing the artworks. In evening, the video of artworks as the motif will be projected on a 30-meter-high wall.
Park Hotel Tokyo General Manager Yoshiaki Hayashi said: “Karuta is a Japanese traditional card game using words. Hope guests will enjoy Japanese aesthetics expressed through proverbs in artworks which differ depending on regions and times.”
KARUTA Exhibition Producer Hironori Tomino said: “Highlights are the unique artworks of karuta. Through the exhibited karuta artworks, we hope guests will feel the joyful atmosphere of the Japanese New Year.”
Park Hotel Tokyo, opened in 2003, is located on the 25th floor and above in the Shiodome Media Tower. The 25th floor has the lobby and reception desk besides restaurants and the bar.
