The year’s winding down and I don’t know about you but my head’s already halfway into holiday mode. There’s something about this time of year – maybe it’s the cooler weather in some parts of the world or just the anticipation of the festive break – that makes us all start daydreaming about where to go next. Hopefully this issue gives you a few ideas for your year-end plans.
In Thailand, cooler breezes draw locals to Chiang Mai for respite. You can do the same and while you’re there, check out a new wave of craft and cultural spaces designed to spark creativity and imagination. Over in Paris, the city is celebrating 100 years of Art Deco – and what better way to immerse yourself in the era than aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express? Think of it as stepping into a glamorous time capsule.
Foodies, we didn’t forget you. This issue takes you on a weekend itinerary across Medan. I’ve never been, but sign me up for a foodie trail. I have fond memories wandering through Hong Kong for great eats years ago and I can only imagine the treats Medan has in store. Coming from Penang, I’m especially curious to see how their kway teow goreng compares.
We’ve also rounded up Friday brunches in Doha and ice cream with a twist in Shanghai if you’re looking for something fresh to try. If music’s more your beat, then Brisbane’s iconic jazz club is where you’ll want to be. So whether travel plans are already locked or you’re still deciding, I hope these stories spark a little inspiration and excitement for the journeys ahead. Here’s to ending the year with memorable adventures.
Go forth and wander!
