Premium healthy meals service set to thrill tastebuds in the Klang Valley
Created by food lovers for food lovers, The Lean Canteen (TLC) is a healthy meal service for calorie-conscious foodies in the Klang Valley, especially those who are looking to stay healthy while keeping up with a busy schedule. Co-founders Mark Lee and Aina Ghani, are both self-declared foodies who love a good meal, and firmly believe that eating healthy can be both affordable and delicious:
“Many people think eating healthy limits them to bland-tasting meal options, or they believe that eating healthy is expensive. With the kind of meals we are offering, we hope to educate and provide foodies like ourselves, that eating healthy can be easily achieved,” says Mark, who works as a full-time fitness trainer.
Believing that good nutrition is one of the main pillars of a healthy lifestyle along with regular exercise, the team at TLC aspired to start a new movement of the way people view food. “We understand that many people struggle to maintain an ideal weight because of their food intake. Food is not the enemy; besides protecting yourself against illness, a healthy diet can also help you achieve your ideal weight,” says Aina. Working closely with a nutritionist, TLC ensures that each generous meal averages around only 500 calories. “We want our foodies to have peace of mind as they tuck into each meal that they won’t be busting their calorie count,” adds Aina.
Besides keeping to your daily calorie allowance, each meal is also deliciously prepared by a cordon-bleu qualified chef. Each meal is whipped up at a centralized kitchen and vacuum packed for freshness before they are delivered to pick-up point(s) in Petaling Jaya.
Menu items include rice dishes: Nasi Goreng Cendawan and Bangkok Beef, jumbo 12-inch wraps the 'Taj Mahal' (with tandoori chicken breast strips) and Baba’s Beef Burrito, best-seller Salmon Khan, and the latest addition the Don Aglio. Besides plans to further expand menu selections, TLC will also have weekly and monthly specials that will showcase promotional meals such as latest recipes and “dish of the month” features.
Meals are priced from as low as USD4, and are packaged in individual containers and labelled with storing and reheating instructions. Be sure to keep a lookout for weekly deals announced via the Facebook page whereby you can order two to three meals at a discounted price. Furthermore, by keeping your ordered meals in the fridge, you can keep them fresh and enjoy them over a 5-day period.
