Check out the best places in the city to fix that hunger pang
It’s no secret that Malaysia is a street food haven. And with countless cafes, restaurants and stalls all dishing out signature local favourites, visitors and tourists are arguably spoilt for choice when it comes to food. But if you ever had the hunger pang or the case of the late night munching during your visit to the capital, then make your way down to these favourite haunts.
The Messiest Burger
OM Burger @ Ampang Jaya
This mind-blowing burger joint is located right in front of a 7-Eleven store and it has been operating at the very same spot and stall for over 25 years. Their best-selling burgers will be the Chicken and Beef Special and although their burgers look messy and greasy, they’re still considered one of the tastiest street burgers in the Klang Valley.
Yummy Hot Wings
Wong Ah Wah Chicken Wings @ Jalan Alor
You don’t know what you missed out if you haven’t tried out Wong Ah Wah’s signature grilled chicken wings. Located in the heart of downtown KL along famous food street Jalan Alor, the restaurant is often patronised by tourists and locals, many of whom make a beeline for the crispy brown grilled chicken wings, which are well-marinated, grilled to perfection and served with a sticky, sweet glaze.
Fluffy Roti
Valentine Roti @ Jalan Semarak
Many consider Valentine Roti as one of the best roti canai in town and we wholeheartedly agree. Located directly across Wisma Celcom at Jalan Semarak, the outlet has been around for almost 20 years. The no-frills food stall is a hotspot for locals and especially clubbers who need to satisfy their case of the 'munchies'. The roti served here is tasty, grease free and incredibly light and crispy.
Italian Fusion
William Corner @ Taman Mayang
William’s Corner is famous for its creative Italian fusion dishes which are affordably priced and served in pretty sizeable portions. Located in Kelana Jaya, Selangor in Taman Mayang Jaya, near where the old Lim Kok Wing University used to be, the restaurant is one of the few places in Klang Valley that you can get unique dishes like Nasi Goreng Soft Shell Crab, Seafood Marinara, Cheese Naan and Sago caramel pandan panna cotta late at night.
Delicious Meat Sticks
Zaini Satay @ Ampang Jaya
The owner Zaini is the grandson of Majid Satay, also known as the ‘King of Satay', which says a lot about the satay served here. Located at Ampang Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, the stall has been around for more than 30 years. The standard favourite beef and chicken satay are grilled to perfection and bursting with flavours but we highly recommend you give their other offerings like chicken liver, perut babat, perut tembusu and lamb satay a go as well.
