Here are the hotels and resorts in Malaysia that have embraced their new normal and adopted enhanced measures to keep their guests safe
1. Summer Bay Resort
A beachside destination nestled in Malaysia’s Lang Tengah Island, Summer Bay Resort is sandwiched between a lush rainforest and the turquoise waters of the South China Sea.
This tropical getaway offers a range of luxurious suites, each with a balcony that leads straight to the pool. Moreover, honeymooners can soak up the stunning night sky and arrange for a private dinner by the beach, while adventure-seekers can choose from a smorgasbord of water sports on offer, from canoeing to scuba-diving. Don’t miss the Blue Tears tour, where the coastline comes to life with an otherworldly, bioluminescent glow.
Safety measures: At the Merang Jetty, while passengers wait to board, Summer Bay Resort staff administer temperature checks and ensure each guest has been sprayed down with a nano-silver disinfectant. The ferries are also fogged before the passengers board. At the resort, each guest goes through a sanitisation tunnel before check-in. Hand-sanitising stations have also been installed in strategic spots around the resort.
Every suite is fogged before guests check-in and after they check-out. Within the property, face masks are mandatory, as are regular temperature checks. Floor markers remind guests to maintain a safe distance of at least a metre between each other. Group activities such as scuba-diving are regulated to prevent overcrowding, with instructors maintaining a two-metre distance from participants and all shared equipment thoroughly sanitised before and after each use.
