The Internet has gone a little cuckoo for White Rabbit Candy – the iconic milk-flavoured sweet that many of us grew up with – since Los Angeles-based Wanderlust Creamery released their White Rabbit candy ice cream earlier in February.
Now, Malaysians can have a taste of nostalgia as several food companies here have hopped onto the bandwagon with their own versions of White Rabbit candy-inspired items, from ice cream to bubble milk tea. Here are some of the best places to satisfy your cravings:
Inside Scoop
Inside Scoop launched their White Rabbit Candy Ice Cream on February 28 – much to the delight of fans who were quick to scoop them up (no pun intended). The flavour will be available at selected outlets in the Klang Valley, Penang, Ipoh, Melaka and Kuantan until the end of April, so follow their Facebook page @insidescoop for restock announcements!
Waka Waka Gelato
Tucked within MAHSA University in PJ is Waka Waka Gelato, which carries a selection of homemade and freshly churned gelato – including their own version of the White Rabbit Candy Ice Cream. Lucky patrons might even get the edible rice paper wrap on the side. Taking childhood nostalgia one step further, the shop is offering, for a limited time only, their Haw Haw Tatayo, featuring crumbled candied haw flakes mixed into a vanilla gelato and topped over with caramelised haw flake concentrate syrup.
MiX
For a cheaper alternative, Taiwanese convenience store chain MiX offers Milk Candy Soft Serve Ice Cream for only RM2.90 at 7 of their 16 outlets, including at SS2, Puchong, Kepong, Sri Petaling, Penang, Johor and Melaka. They’ve even got other Asian-inspired flavours such as Pearl Milk Tea (complete with boba pearls) and salted egg soft serve.
Yumcha Tea Bar
Yumcha Tea Bar has always been known for their Instagrammable drinks, but we think they’ve outdone themselves with their White Rabbit Milk Cha and Butterfly Pea Boba. Inspired by the candy’s signature white and blue wrapper, the milky white tea is topped with blue pearls, made in-house from butterfly pea flowers. Go early to their Bandar Sunway outlet, as they sell out quickly.
