With Raya coming up, it’s time to give your closet a refresh with festive pieces to welcome the month of Syawal. 1. FERN
Fern Chua’s latest collection takes cues from the landscapes and culture of Morocco, inspired by a trip she took a year ago. Known for her creative reimagination of batik, Fern’s new ready-to-wear collection fuses traditional elements of the batik with Moroccan influences, as seen from the Moorish architecture and Islamic geometric motifs referenced in her designs.

2. Alia Bastamam x Scha Alyahya
For Raya 2020, Alia Bastamam has collaborated with Malaysian darling Scha Alyahya. Called Alia Bastamam x Scha Alyahya, the collection features the designer’s signature wrap-style kebaya, a beautiful kebaya-kimono fusion, and modern twists on the baju kurungs in various ultra-feminine shades of nudes, neutrals and pinks.

Alia Bastamam’s second line, Alia B, also has a ready-to-wear Raya collection that was inspired by the ocean. Featuring easy, flowing silhouettes and drapery, it’s made for women who favour a minimalist, understated style. Expect plenty of soft, delicate shades and prints that mimic the colours that bounce off sunlit waves.

4. FK by Farah Khan for Zalora
Farah Khan’s new Modern Marrakech collaboration with Zalora features beautiful kaftans, kebayas and kurungs, which all pay homage to the Islamic architecture of Marrakech. You’ll find pieces inspired by the intense blues of the Jardin Majorelle and the intricate mosaics of the historic Médersa Ben Youssef.
