The Pearl of the Andaman Sea continuously dazzles with an abundant variety of escapades awaiting guests of all ages
The fascinating island of Phuket has continuously ranked as one of the top tourist destinations in Southeast Asia. With sun, sea and sand on offer along with a tropical backdrop that provides for the perfect relaxing getaway, the Thai island paradise is a multi-faceted destination that has a little something for everyone…
Island Hop
No trip to Phuket is complete without an island hopping excursion, which is why it remains one of the island’s top tourist activities. There are many tours to choose from, all of which range from a few hours to full day packages. For first timers, an island hop over to Phi Phi Island remains the most popular. The trip usually departs in the morning and encompasses a visit to several island caves, a glass bottomed boat trip and snorkelling off the island.
A Dinner and a show
Phuket Fantasea is a stunning 140-acre theme complex, packed with activities such as carnivals and a Las Vegas-styled theatrical show. Inspired by Thailand's rich and exotic heritage, the show not only showcases the charm and beauty of the country, but also its ancient Thai traditions with the aid of special effects. The complex also houses a carnival village as well as a 4000-seater restaurant. You can either choose to catch the show on its own or with a dinner option as well.
Adventure Raft
If you’re eager to get wet, then head out to the Phang Nga Province for an action-packed ride along rivers fringed with huge jungle trees. The Phang Nga River in Southern Thailand’s lush rainforest, some 80km away from Phuket, offers rafting excursions ranging from 5km to 7km courses. Each tour starts with an action-packed ride along class 2-3 waters followed by a sumptuous lunch. Additional tours also include an ATV ride or elephant ride through the jungle.
Make A Splash
A perfect place to let the kids go wild, the Splash Jungle Water Park is considered Phuket’s wettest and wildest water theme park. The water park offers fun for the whole family, ranging from water slides to rides such as the Boomerango and Superbowl as well as a six-level wave pool and an aqua-play pool for the children. There’s also a 300 metre lazy river as well as a hydrotherapy spring pool to relax in once you’ve had your fill of the slides.
Cook Thai
Thai cuisine is renowned the world over and what better way to cap off a Phuket trip with some knowledge on authentic Thai recipes. There are many cooking schools on the island but Phuket Thai Cookery School ranks as one of the best. Located on Siray beach, the school offers lessons on Thai cooking and it includes recipes as well as tips that visitors can take home. Once done cooking, guests also have the option of tucking into their meal at one of the many sundecks located around the school or on the nearby beach.
