Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin introduces the Autumn/Winter 2015 edition
As far as fashion capitals go, New York, London, Paris and Milan top the list. What about Berlin? The oft-forgotten city offers an international stage that is very much unfettered in its representation of diverse style.
The bi-annual Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin for example, brings together talents from all over Europe – and the world. Here are some highlights from the recent Autumn/Winter 2015 runway shows.
Riani
The label merges Italian lightness with precise German workmanship. In identifying himself as an eclectic, head designer Ulrich Schulte says: “The Riani woman’s life is too versatile for her to be happy with only one style.”
Pearly Wong
Malaysia’s Pearly Wong often presents garments with a more utilitarian feel. While her colour palettes can be sombre, excitement is nevertheless found in the play of textures and forms.
Dimitri
Dimitrios Panagiotopoulos is of Greek and Italian parentage. His label comprises garments that stand out. “I design for women who embody taste, charisma and self-confidence and who also want to radiate this to the outside world,” he states.
Paper London
Paper London is a modern British brand focusing on clean, sharp silhouettes. Inspired by luxurious fabrics and vibrant colours, the creations are modern and sleek – but with an ultra-cool playful vibe.
Kilian Kerner
Cologne-born Kilian Kerner describes his designs as arising or born out of feelings. He sees them telling stories – whereby each appears as “emotional” as it is beautifully “off-centre”.
