The Lion City is gearing up to host a series of international shows and performances for 2015
Bummed that you just missed the musical Cats? Well not to worry because Singapore’s setting the stage for several top notch shows and musicals for 2015. And best of all, since the shows are all emanating from under one roof at the state-of-the-art MasterCard Theatres at Marina Bay Sands, audiences are in for an amazing viewing experience. So, if you’re a musical fan and planning a trip down to Singapore sometime in the next few months, do take heed of these must-watch shows while you’re there.
Beauty and the Beast
When: 21 March to 21 April
It’s a tale as old as time and it’s got a legion of fans no doubt thanks to Disney’s animated spin. Now, the award-winning musical of Beauty and the Beast comes to Lion City beginning March 2015. Played in over 35 countries, this fantasy musical is put together by the original creators of the Broadway production and features the Academy Award winning score by Alan Menken.
The Ultimate Tribute to Elvis
When: 2 to 5 April
2015 marks the King of Rock & Roll’s 80th birthday and what better way to celebrate the greatest performer of all-time with a tribute concert. Direct from Las Vegas, The Ultimate Tribute to Elvis is an unforgettable multi-media and live musical journey across Elvis' life. Featuring performances by some of the world’s best Elvis impersonators, this is one epic concert experience that will have you ‘All Shook Up’ in no time at all.
Björn Again 25th Anniversary Tour
When: 17 & 18 April
Are you thankful for the music? Well you can tell them in person as Björn Again hits Singapore as part of their 25th Anniversary celebrations. The only show officially endorsed by ABBA, this unique musical has been enthralling fans for over 25 years. If you’re a die-hard ABBA and Mamma Mia fan, then rest assured this show will guarantee to get you dancing like a Super Trouper. But get your tickets early though, because this one’s going to be held for just two days.
Swan Lake
When: 28 to 31 May
The acclaimed St Petersburg Ballet perform in Singapore for the first time this year for their presentation of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. The world’s most famous ballet production has captivated audiences the world over largely due to the elaborate costumes, its moving story and strong dance performances, all of which are tied together by one of the most beloved music compositions in history.
Singing In The Rain
When: Beginning 6 July
The West End original production based on the musical which starred the late great Gene Kelly will transport audiences back to the roaring 50s. Adapted from the classic movie, the musical will boast elaborate sets, impressive dance sequences and choreography including the musical’s most important number that takes place complete with an on-stage rain shower.
